It will take a full 7 years to get to the point of being back to a true new start and that is providing you do not go out and screw up your finances once again.

Last, if you do decide on bankruptcy the advantages of bankruptcy are that you get a new beginning, you can wipe out some debts, and you will be able to build a better financial picture for yourself. However, there are other ways to do this on the same type of timeline without going to court for a bankruptcy.
